Neem Based Leaf Shine Products No Longer Legal for Use

Posted on February 20, 2013 By Flowers Canada Posted In Growers

Neem oils have been used for centuries around the world for various applications.  In Canada these products have typically been available as  "Leaf Shines" but have never been registered for pest management uses - this despite being registered in the US in a number of OMRI listed biopesticide products.  Flowers Canada has been informed by Health Canada that they will no longer tolerate the use of Neem based Leaf Shine products.  This began December 31st 2012 - please be aware that Health Canada could inspect greenhouses/storage facilities to determine compliance. There are several companies presently working on registrations for an azadirachtin/neem based product for Canadian growers with Flowers Canada support.
