FCO Board of Directors Elected a New Executive Commmittee

Guelph, ON – Flowers Canada (Ontario) Inc. (FCO) held its 49th Annual General Meeting together with the FCO Industry Awards Ceremony and Members Savings Symposium on Wednesday January 13th, 2016. The event was held at the Ramada Jordan/Beacon Harbourside Resort in Jordan Ontario, attracting over 60 attendees, including 29 greenhouse flower farms.

FCO's membership re-elected 3 board members to the board of directors: Gina Marchionda (Jeffery's Greenhouses); Angelle van Kleef (Colourful Gardens); Jaap van Staalduinen (Dutch Flower House); and, elected two new board members: Catherine Harrison (Hendriks Greenhouses); Brian Gatcke (Garden City Growers). Two board members chose not to stand for re-election including Ken Vander Molen and past president Gerard Schouwenaar.

Immediately following the FCO Annual General Meeting, the FCO board of directors elected a new executive committee: Ian Vermeer (Westbrook Greenhouses) assumed the role of President; Jan Van Zanten (Van Zanten Greenhouses) assumed the role of Vice President; Angelle van Kleef (Colourful Gardens) assumed the role of Secretary; and, Gina Marchionda (Jeffery's Greenhouses) assumed the role of Treasurer.

Andrew Morse, FCO's Executive Director, commented that “[o]ur office is tremendously grateful for the commitment of members toward volunteering on our Board of Directors. Both Gerard and Ken provided incredible vision, insight and leadership over the last several years. We believe that our new board members, President and Vice President will continue to show great leadership and help guide our sector into many more prosperous years to come."
