Greenhouse Competitiveness and Innovation Initiative

The Greenhouse Competitiveness and Innovation Initiative (GCII), is a non-competitive 19 million-dollar funding program established for Ontario greenhouse growers to increase sector competitiveness, by providing broad-based support that fosters innovation and investment in the sector.

Eligible applicants include commercial greenhouse businesses in Ontario that grow or propagate vegetables, fruit, culinary herbs, or floriculture and as of March 23, 2017 had at least 20,000 square feet of production area.

The GCII program is offering funding of $0.14/ft² to a max of 1.2 million ft² with a maximum cost share equal to 90%. Qualifying activities include (but are not limited to) projects to increase energy efficiency, input reduction, production improvement and the development of business and marketing plans in support of accessing new markets and/or expand or enhance existing markets.
