GF2 Funding Requirements Have Changed…..…What Farmers and Those Who Work with Farmers Need To Know

Posted on April 28, 2015 By Flowers Canada Posted In Announcements

Growing Forward 2 (GF2) offers workshops and training and cost-share funding assistance for Ontario; producers, processors, organizations and collaborations. Ontario farm producers who have plans to access Growing Forward 2 funding have revised rules beginning April 2015. Of particular note:

All applications are now submitted to OSCIA (Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association) during the intake periods; first intake is May 1 to May 21; second is August 10 to August 27; and the third is November 16 to December 3, 2015. (There are no longer separate Capacity Building and Implementation streams)

- All applications will be assessed on a merit basis.

- There are cost-share caps for most project areas.

- Some project categories have prerequisites as a required condition before clients can apply. Participation in GF2 workshops are now required as a prerequisite for most funding. (see list of workshops available below)

- Approval date must be before the date of any invoices for the project. In other words, approval of your project is needed before costs can be incurred and paid.

- The Program Guide is now more clear of what is required to obtain approval which should make the process easier to understand and access.

For further program details and to view the full Program Guide for GF2 see the web site of Ontario Soil and Crop Improvement Association. www.ontariosoilcrop.org

To assist Producers further, information sessions are offered between April 28th, and May 20th, both in-person and via webex. Details and locations are listed on the OSCIA web site, and attached below.

The listing of educational workshops, which are a prerequisite for most funding areas, are listed below. The full up to date list for all GF2 workshops across Ontario is available on the web site www.ontariosoilcrop.org Click on “Workshop Calendar".
